INTERNSHIP BROUHAHA, THIS PROB MUST BE SOLVED.

Internship is the position of a student or trainee who usually works in an organization or institution; sometimes without pay, in order to gain working experience or satisfy requirements for a qualification.

The University of Education,Winneba has an internship programme for prospective level 400 students during the first semester of their final year.
More often than not, this programme is the first of its kind for students who perhaps were not able to partake in any attachment programme due to some reasons best known to them as well as those who were not already on the field of work before entering the university.

Aside the aforementioned, the internship programme popularly known as " off campus " is a three(3) credit hour course used in grading students.

As a matter of fact, it is worrisome students are taken through some few hours of training during a seminar to be educated on a whole semester's work amidst  cluster of activities.

Students only return to campus the next semester, only to realize the good service they rendered is nearly obliterated as a result of leaving behind many vital items the student could have come along with to validate their portfolios. This awkward quandary is due to inadequacy of education given to prospective level 300's in their second semester.
I surmise a better approach by the university hopefully than this.

One most important element worth mentioning is the " Yellow Book ". A book used by the mentor, supervisor, headmaster, and other stakeholders to monitor the progress of the intern.
Students had no prior knowledge about this booklet until registration of courses.  Simultaneously, many a school are in session so interns had no option than to rush and report to duty.
Interns also, got to their designated schools only to realize the difficulties in filling the yellow book, where to stamp and where not to as well as the pages to be packaged and parceled to the university.  All these difficulties were faced because student teachers did not receive the requisite information and training  regarding the yellow book.
Consequently, their forms were rejected.

Interns who go through such quagmires admit it's stressful, shameful and degrading. Most interns are unable to go back to their schools or place of work for the necessary corrections due to Financial constraints.

Some students, doubtlessly, have been able to bear these predicaments and wants to redeem our fellow comrades from this pandemic.

With due obeisance and genuflections, we humbly request that authorities deemed necessary to enlighten prospective students,  execute their roles with due prudence and tact during Pre-internship seminars.
It will be an honour to mother UEW in using internship as a vital tool for raising competent teachers in the future.
