UEW SRC Disclaims embarking on a demonstration over dismissed Lecturers


The UEW main campus SRC secretariat has disclaimed a poster going viral on student’s whatsApp platforms that there will be a demonstration on Monday 18th March 2019 against the vice chancellor of the school for dismissing some lecturers.
On 11th March 2019 the Governing Council of the University of Education headed by the Vice Chancellor Rev. Father Prof. Anthony Afful Broni issued a letter of dismissal to two lecturers; Professor Ephraim Avea Nsoh, Principal of the College of Language Education at Ajumako campus and Dr. Frimpong Kakyire Duku who is the local President of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG).
Just after the release of the letter and it has gone viral on campus, it creates a lot of agitation among the students who’s lecturers are involve especially the students of Health Physical Education, Recreation and Sport (HPERS). They weren’t happy and cause some confusion which led to Police reinforcement to calm them but it weren’t effective.
Late in the night there were posters going viral to stage a demonstration on Monday by the Alumni and the SRC. On this note the SRC has issued a statement to disclaim the attempt demonstration, that they have no hand in the notice and seriously doing investigation to bring the perpetrator who released that notice to justice. They said it is a way of defaming the SRC presidency and tarnishing and destroying the hard earned reputation of the SRC and the Institution as a whole.

In a post on the SRC Facebook handle page with Reference, Ref: SRC/AD/18-19/0008 they send a strong warning to the entire student populace to desist from any demonstration.
