The woman behind the iconic Akwaaba Picture.

Angelina Nana Akua Oduro

Akwaaba is a Ghanaian Language(Twi) word which means "Welcome". Ghana is known for it kind and warm hospitality to foreigners. For about 20 years, there is a picture on the walls of Ghana every where you go welcoming you to that place. This picture has a beautiful girl on it, well dressed in beautiful traditional Kente and holding pot and calabash in the act of pouring palm wine. Her divine achievement is so legendary that even Ghanaians models yet unborn would struggle to match the record she has set. The picture is popularly recognized by Ghanaian across the World as a true representation of Ghanaian heritage. She is on calendars, bags, dresses, gift items, and many, but with every passing year, this lady identity sinks deep in the obscurity but she has been found. 
Many people especially the  youth over the years have been always asking this question 'who is this girl'?. For 20 years she has been silent over the questions.
People became suspenseful after a post from African most awarded rapper, Sarkodie in his Facebook post, asking who the girl is.



She is called Angelina Nana Akua Oduro. According to her the idea of taking such picture came in when she was 9 years. she always wanted to take a similar picture she admired on the wall in a bar when ever her mother sends her to the place. Angelina went to a fashion school (Fashion Africa) after she completed high school. She later joined S.T.B Marcan at Teteplaha where she was starred in advertisements as an attachment program.
According to Angelina, she took the picture in 1999 and pasted it in her room but people where admiring it. When asked who took the picture she said CEEJAY Multimedia. CEEJAY then confronted her to just allow him to seal the pictures out because the feedback was marvelous.   
According to her it actually took her 4 to 6 months before realizing her picture is everywhere in Ghana.

She also said she has really made a lot from the picture all thanks to CEEJAY for been fair to her. She also won contracts on TV commercials and billboards.
Then suddenly she disappeared in the scene. When asked she said she has to quit for religious purposes. She said she is a member of her church choir, an evangelist and also part of the sanctuary keepers in keeping the church clean.
Angelina is now a full time fashion designer with two kids. According to Angelina, her kids school mates have been asking whether truly the image is their mum's and she joyously said when ever they asked you say, 'yeah that's my mum'. Her house is now called the "Akwaaba House."

Angelina truly defines what a real celebrity is not Akwapem poloo's self accliam celebrity. Angelina has make a distinction between a celebrity and a public figure.
